The Cycloid Emperor, the Battlelord, and the Alien Queen return with some alterations, especially to the Alien Queen. The game also has a wide variety of bosses for the player to fight. While they cannot fly, they can move very fast which can make them hard to hit. One of the new enemies is the OctaBaby which looks like a miniature version of the OctaBrain. The game also adds new enemies to the Franchise. Also the Pig Cops are now more masculine and most of them act more animal like, though there are a lot of them that use weapons. For example, The Octabrains can now use telekinesis to pick up objects and throw them at you, in addition to firing bursts of psychokinetic energy. Most of the Enemies from Duke Nukem 3D return with a handful of changes. For example, when he jumps, he keeps his back straight.ĭuke Nukem Forever has a lot of familiar elements that Duke Nukem fans will easily recognize. Therefore you can see how stiff and non-believable the player model moves. Since Duke Nukem is so narcissistic, there are a lot of mirrors in the game. The one thing about the graphics that really annoys me is Duke Nukem Himself. However, the enemy design looks really cool and they still have that Duke Nukem feel to them. The graphics look out of date, but that can be expected since the game was supposed to be released a few years earlier. While the game isn't as epic as we were lead to believe, it's still an ok game. And, as usual, it is up to Duke to save the world. But right after the call, aliens start breaking into the hotel, attacking duke, as well as killing civilians, and abducting woman. Duke gets a call from the president ordering him not to engage in any hostilities against the aliens. He finds out that the aliens that he had defeated twelve years ago have came back to earth, and due to their reappearance, Duke's interview on the "Damn, It's Late Show" got cancelled in order to show more reports on the aliens. When he defeats the emperor, it is reviled that duke Nukem was playing a video game about himself (which took twelve years to make.) ever since Duke Nukem defeated the alien invasion twelve years ago in Duke Nukem 3D, he became a celebrity living in a suite in "The Lady Killer" hotel and casino in Las Vegas, along with his two companions, the Holsem Twins. Then, after going through some corridors, he then battles the Cycloid emperor on the football field, a similar scenario that was in Duke Nukem 3D. The story begins inside a football stadium locker room, where Duke Nukem is relieving himself.
But what was expected to be the most epic game ever, turned out to be a major disappointment. After fifteen years, the game was finally released. However, several budget problems, employee layoffs and the constant release of new technology caused the game to spend more time in development then one would like. One year later, 3D Realms announced the development of a sequel titled Duke Nukem Forever. The character of Duke Nukem has also been praised for his immature personality as well as his memorable one liners, examples include "Hail to the king, Baby" or "it's time to kick ass and chew bubblegum, and I'm all out of gum." The game sold over 3.5 million copies, spawned 3 expansion packs, at least 5 spinoffs and several custom maps and mods. Duke Nukem 3D has been praised for its interactive non-linear level design, as well as its adult themes and tongue-in-cheek humor. The game was a sequel to the side scrolling game Duke Nukem II. When Duke Nukem 3D was released by 3D realms in 1996 it was going to be a hit for its developer ID Software.
